1. Acknowledgment of Risk

I understand that ROCKMAN Swimrun is a physically demanding endurance event conducted in a remote and challenging natural environment.

I acknowledge that participation involves inherent risks, including, but not limited to:

  • Open-water swimming in cold water, strong currents, waves and changing weather conditions.

  • Jumping from a ferry or other designated starting platforms into open water.

  • Running, climbing and descending steep, slippery, rocky and exposed mountain terrain.

  • Navigating technical trails, uneven surfaces, narrow passages and steep stairways.

  • Exposure to hypothermia, hyperthermia, dehydration, exhaustion and other physical or environmental hazards.

  • Falls, collisions, drowning, serious injury, permanent disability or death.

  • Delays in emergency assistance or evacuation due to the remote nature of the course, terrain, weather or accessibility.

I understand that weather, water conditions and terrain may change rapidly and that the race organization cannot eliminate every risk associated with participation.

I voluntarily accept the inherent risks of participating in ROCKMAN Swimrun.

2. Physical Fitness and Personal Responsibility

I confirm that:

  • I will be at least 18 years old on race day.

  • I am a proficient swimmer with sufficient experience in open-water swimming.

  • I have sufficient fitness, experience and technical trail-running ability for my chosen race distance.

  • I am physically and mentally prepared for the demands of the event.

  • I will not participate if I have a medical condition, injury or other circumstance that makes participation unsafe.

I understand that I am responsible for assessing my own condition before and throughout the event. I agree to withdraw if I become unable to continue safely.

I will immediately notify race personnel if I become injured, experience significant distress or require assistance.

3. Race Rules and Safety Instructions

I confirm that I have read, understood and agree to comply with the official ROCKMAN race rules published at www.rockmanswimrun.com/rules.

I agree to:

  • Carry and use all mandatory safety equipment specified for my race distance.

  • Follow the marked racecourse and all instructions issued by race officials and safety personnel.

  • Comply with all mandatory checkpoints, cutoff times and safety procedures.

  • Remain within the required distance of my teammate when competing in a team category.

  • Respect other athletes, spectators, volunteers, local residents and the natural environment.

  • Assist other participants in an emergency when it is reasonably safe to do so and when requested by race officials.

I acknowledge that race officials and medical personnel may prevent me from starting, stop my participation, withdraw me from the race or require evacuation when reasonably necessary for safety.

4. Emergency Medical Assistance

In the event of an accident, injury or medical emergency, I authorize race officials to request emergency medical assistance and arrange rescue or evacuation when reasonably necessary.

If I am unable to communicate or provide consent, I understand that emergency personnel may provide treatment in accordance with applicable law and professional medical judgment.

I understand that medical treatment, rescue, evacuation and transportation may involve additional costs.

5. Insurance

I confirm that I have valid insurance appropriate for my participation in ROCKMAN Swimrun.

I am responsible for ensuring that my insurance provides suitable coverage for the activities involved in the event, including open-water swimming, technical trail running, injury and emergency medical treatment.

I understand that I am responsible for costs not covered by my insurance, except where another party is legally responsible for those costs.

6. Assumption of Risk and Liability

I voluntarily participate in ROCKMAN Swimrun with full awareness of the inherent risks associated with the event.

I accept responsibility for injuries, losses or damage arising from those inherent risks or from my own actions or failure to comply with race rules and safety instructions.

To the extent permitted by applicable Norwegian law, I agree not to hold the race organizer, its officers, employees, volunteers, contractors or other representatives liable for injury, loss or damage resulting solely from the inherent risks of participation.

Nothing in this waiver excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under Norwegian law, including liability arising from conduct for which the organizer is legally responsible.

This waiver does not remove or reduce the race organizer's statutory safety obligations.

7. Course Changes and Event Cancellation

I understand that ROCKMAN takes place in a natural environment where conditions may change unexpectedly.

For safety or other legitimate operational reasons, race officials may modify the course, alter the schedule, introduce additional safety requirements, suspend racing or cancel the event.

Any refund, postponement or other remedy following such changes will be governed by the applicable registration terms and mandatory Norwegian law.

8. Personal Property

I understand that I am responsible for my personal equipment and belongings throughout the event.

The race organization is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property except where liability arises under applicable law.

9. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by Norwegian law, without prejudice to any mandatory legal protections applicable to the participant.

Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law and the jurisdiction of the competent courts.

10. Participant Declaration

By accepting this agreement, I confirm that:

  • I have read and understood this waiver and the official ROCKMAN race rules.

  • I understand the physical demands and inherent risks of participating in ROCKMAN Swimrun.

  • I meet the participation requirements for my chosen race distance.

  • I have appropriate insurance coverage.

  • I understand and accept my responsibilities as a participant.

  • I voluntarily agree to the terms of this waiver, subject to my rights under applicable law.

By registering for this race, I have read, understood and agree to the ROCKMAN Swimrun Participant Waiver and Acknowledgment of Risk.
